Dick Groat (Class of '52) received numerous accolades for his performances in baseball and basketball while at Duke. Groat then served two years in the United States Army. He went on to play 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, winning World Series Championships with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960 and St. Louis Cardinals in 1964.
